You will be collected from a central meeting point in Tel Aviv or Herzliya in a comfortable vehicle. As you travel south, your guide, Amit, will begin to provide context and prepare you for the day ahead.
Your first major stop is the memorial site for the Nova Music Festival. This is a solemn and respectful visit. Here, Amit will share his personal, heartbreaking story of survival from the October 7th attack. You will have time to pay your respects and comprehend the scale of the tragedy that unfolded here.
Next, you will enter the city of Sderot, known as the “Capital of the Western Negev.” For years, this community has lived under the threat of rockets. You will see how daily life adapts, from rocket-proof bus stops and playgrounds to reinforced security rooms in every home. This is a testament to the incredible resilience of the Israeli spirit.
The tour includes several secure vantage points to view the Gaza Strip. From these overlooks, Amit will explain the complex geography, the proximity of communities, and the security situation, giving you a clear understanding of the landscape you are witnessing.
Itinerary
This tour is a carefully sequenced journey from historical context to personal testimony. Here is what you will experience:
1. Setting the Context: The Geopolitical Landscape
As we travel south, your guide, Amit Musaei, will begin by unfolding the complex history of Gaza’s geopolitics and the contemporary context of the conflict, preparing you with the essential background for the day.
2. Sderot: Coffee & The Proximity Lookout
Upon arrival in Sderot, we’ll enjoy a brief coffee break.
We then proceed to Sderot’s lookout point. From here, you will grasp the stunning proximity to the Gaza border. The panoramic view encompasses Gaza’s northern areas (Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Gaza City) as well as Israel’s southern coastal cities of Ashdod and Ashkelon.
3. The Resilience of a Community
A short drive takes us through Sderot’s old and new neighborhoods, where we learn about the community’s spirit and ongoing defense challenges.
We stop at a unique rocket-proof resilience playground and see Sderot’s Menorah, a powerful sculpture made from intercepted “Kassam” rockets, which tells the story of the artillery attacks on the town.
4. Site of the Former Sderot Police Station
We visit the site where Sderot’s police headquarters once stood before being demolished. Amit will share the heroic story of how Israel’s elite counter-terror unit (Yamam) took back the building from militants.
5. The Nova Music Festival Memorial Site (Re’im)
We drive approximately 20 minutes to the Re’im rest area, located between Kibbutz Be’eri and Kibbutz Re’im. This is the ground where the Nova music festival was attacked and 364 people were murdered.
This is the core of the tour. Amit will share his firsthand, step-by-step account of survival, presenting videos he recorded during his escape. You will have time to pay your respects at the moving temporary memorials erected by the families and friends of the victims.
6. The Bomb Shelter at Kibbutz Mefalsim
Our final site visit is the bomb shelter at the entrance to Kibbutz Mefalsim. On their way to occupy the kibbutz, terrorists murdered everyone they found here, including Amit’s best friends: Adir & Shiraz Tamam and Celiene Ben-David Nagar.
Amit will tell the story of the battle for Mefalsim and the tragic loss of his friends, who had no chance against the attack.
7. Return to Tel Aviv
From Mefalsim, we begin our driven return to Tel Aviv, concluding a day of powerful memory and testament to resilience.
In loving memory of Adir Tamam. This poignant memorial, visited on our Gaza Border Tour, honors Amit’s best friend, Adir, and his wife Shiraz, who were murdered at the Kibbutz Mefalsim entrance on October 7th. Their story is a profound part of understanding the human loss of that day.

No. This tour offers included transportation only from our designated meeting points in Tel Aviv. We do not offer pickup from Jerusalem.

The safety of our guests and staff is our highest concern. We operate in close coordination with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and local security officials. We constantly assess the situation and will never run a tour if there is any elevated risk. The itinerary stays within secure zones.

Superb Tour Guide In July, we went to Israel and Yaron was our guide for two of our three week stay. He was an excellent guide for our family. My two sons, 11 and 13 at the time, felt very comfortable with him as did my husband and I. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and had a good sense of humor. He was always on time and helpful with carrying items, explaining what we would be experiencing, offered to take photos of us, and made sure in advance that the touring we would do met our needs and desires. From the moment we met Amit over zoom we knew that we were in good hands. He was so helpful in planning and organizing the whole vacation, working with us to build an itinerary that suited our group as well as reserving hotels and restaurants. Throughout the week Amit showed us so many incredible places and constantly provided interesting stories about each location we visited. He kept our group of ten, ages 11-76 thoroughly entertained and we learned so much from him. In addition to lots of history, nature and culture, we also found time for so many fun activities like sandboarding, rappelling and food tours. Amit is a genuinely friendly and interesting person and he made us feel comfortable wherever we went. We connected easily and we enjoyed when he shared some of his own experiences and stories from his personal life in Israel. Oded led our family, (including 2 teens) on an exceptional 9 day tour of Israel. My husband and I had been several times but it was our sons’ first time in Israel and we wanted it to be a great experience for them. It was more than great, it was fantastic and in large part to Oded. Oded’s knowledge of Israel and the Middle East and his ability to make each day come alive was extraordinary. Entertaining and Informative Tour of Tel Aviv We took the Tel Aviv Urban food tour with Menno on November 23 and had a great time. As a guide Menno is informative and entertaining. The walking tour covered a large swath Tel Aviv and blended the history of Tel Aviv and Israel with cultural and architectural highlights.
There were frequent stops for refreshments and the tour culminated with a stop at the eclectic Carmel Market for a tasting of local cuisine.
The tour was fun and engaging and most importantly very informative of all things Tel Aviv. We also appreciated several little known sights and recommendations for future touring opportunities.
Our group had a blast and highly recommended for a first or fiftieth visit to Tel Aviv.

Great experience in Tel Aviv We joined the "Tel Aviv's Old Neighborhoods" tour and absolutely loved it.
I came with my Dutch partner, and even as someone who grew up in Israel, Menno still managed to surprise me with new insights and stories.

Menno is an experienced guide with a lot of knowledge Menno has shown us the entire ancient city of Jerusalem, from the Mount of Olives and Gethsemane to the city and the tomb of David, the tomb church and all Catholic pomp. While walking, he tells about the history of the Jewish people in a clear timeline, but also about current events. If you are Dutch and want to get to know Jerusalem, you can't ignore Menno.

A 'must do' Tour, shedding historical insight and into the current Israel/Hamas conflict. Amit Musaei our Otef envelope Group Tour Guide was so knowledgeable about Israel's history, from the earliest times to present day. He was able to show how the present Gaza conflict fits into this history in a very easy to understand way. He provided us with historical maps and documents to further inform his talks.
He took us to many sites linked to the Hamas terrorist attacks of Oct 7th, where the evidence of the atrocities are still visible.
He spoke throughout with superb insight, latterly sharing his own traumatic Nova Survivor story.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Amit's Otef border Tour. It was a privilege to have him as our Guide.

Gaza envelope tour This was a gaza envelope tour w. The guide was a survivor of the Nova festival. He provided a well balanced informative presentation of some of the causes of the conflict and hypothesised on the reasons that palestinians may be attracted to Hamas and terrorism. He provided an account of the history of Szerot and other towns and kibbutz in the area.
Attending Szerot tower and Police station memorial was moving. The memorial is respectful and promotes peace.
Nova was also moving particularly as the guide provided his personal account. There were photos of victims and information boards. People wanted to enjoy life and were innocent victims of terror.
We visited a charity run hospitality base where soldiers could get a hot meal and a shower and supplies. It was really interesting getting the soldiers perspectives and supporting the charity to keep offering a respite to young soldiers who are risking their lives fighting terrorism.

I could totally rely on him for everything, good restaurants, changing money etc. but you can also learn about politics today, he is very nice to talk to. I couldn't have imagined a better guide, he was a real gift. Now I have beautiful memories of Jerusalem.

A somber experience.... Such a tragedy. A very sad place to visit, but essential to understand what happened here. Unfortunately, it demonstrates the violence human beings are capable of towards others.
On the other hand, the memorials of the innocent victims who lost their lives or were injured because of hatred, live on.
Our guide was excellent and I felt safe during the entire tour. Even though I felt overwhelmed at the various sites, I am glad I went.
